THE 22nd WEIFAN INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL The city of Weifan is the home of Chinese kitemaking. Strong, gusty winds made KAPing too risky on the first day when the field was packed with many tens of thousands of enthusiastic spectators and fliers. The second day on which the First Kite World Championships was altogether quieter and better for kite aerial photography, even if the stage for the magnificant opening ceremony had somewhat lost its splendour.
QINGDAO INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL The festival took place on the No 1 beach of this beautiful city which will host the sailing events in the 2008 Olympics. Unexpected bonuses were the preparations for the 14th Quindao International Sand Sculpture Exhibition and some wonderful seaweed.
